Share, upcycle and DIY

You don’t have to buy a new costume every year to participate in Halloween. Dive into the costume boxes of friends and family and come up with a different costume every year. The ideal way to wear a different outfit every year without spending a fortune.

If you don't find anything at all, the creative types can craft an outfit themselves. Open your wardrobe and get started with old fabrics, cardboard, a lick of paint here and there... Before you know it, you've made your own outfit.

Vegan makeup

No Halloween without scary make-up. When Halloween comes, our face also transforms into a real scary figure.

Here is a little reminder that makeup ingredients often contain traces of animal origin. In addition, it often contains even harmful ingredients for the skin. Therefore, pay close attention to which products you buy in advance.

Choose vegan and natural make-up. Be aware that we can also do our bit in this way.

Trick or treat

While the adults celebrate together, children are going around the neighborhood collecting as much candy as possible at the doors.

In this case, the candy we give out is often wrapped in disposable plastic. Instead, candy wrapped in paper is a better option. Another alternative is to buy candy in bulk without having it wrapped individually.

Or better yet, you can bake pastries and cookies yourself. That way you avoid plastic packaging and it tastes even better.

The way to a child's love is through the stomach, right?

Pumpkins, lots of pumpkins...

We use them as decoration but also as an activity with children to make scary faces in them. Fun guaranteed.

Don't throw away the contents of the pumpkins. Try to use the pumpkin in dishes; make soup or freeze the pumpkin flesh to eat later. That way we celebrate Halloween in a zero waste way and still have fun.

We also recommend buying pumpkins from local farmers or stores. The following year, you can choose to use the pumpkin seeds to grow in your own garden. Homegrown and homemade always tastes better.

Decorations

Bats, pumpkins, flags, food, lights, spider webs... we bring the typical Halloween decorations into the house to stay completely in theme. But have you ever thought about making your own decoration?

You can easily transform objects into themes using paper, glue, cardboard, markers and old clothes.

Let your creativity run wild and simply make your own decorations. You can simply reuse them the following year. So don't put them too far away.

Make it a scary sustainable Halloween!
